Re: Joey's pink panther quilt « Result #1 on Nov 20, 2009, 8:31pm »
I can quilt by hand and control every stitch, but for some reason I cannot get my running stitch to behave when I attempt to piece. I get very relaxed when I quilt, but when I hand piece, I'm on edge and my fingers just ache. It's worth it to have the machine for it.
And even with machine piecing squares can get boring. I think stars are so beautiful, but triangles are hard to sew with. That being said, strip piecing and cross cutting with rotary cutters can make even squares quite fun.

this was my second hand-stitched quilt
the first one I did was a lap quilt for my grandmother
I'd like to move beyond simple squares, but when I'm hand-stitching my fingers don't always cooperate
Olivia and Donovan are working on their second one now ... a little bigger than the first one they did (a lap quilt), but not quite big enough to cover a bed.

I rarely use recipes, I just toss in this and that but here goes
2 lbs. ground beef 1 onion, diced 1 bell pepper, diced 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 large can tomato sauce 1 can diced tomatoes 1 can diced tomatoes with green chilies 2 envelopes taco seasoning mix 1 bag frozen corn 1 can black olives, sliced
brown ground beef, onion, bell pepper, and garlic. add taco seasoning and water according to package directions. add remaining ingredients and stir. mix up any regular cornbread recipe and pour over top. bake 45 min. @ 400 until cornbread is done all the way through. (this is what took the longest!)

A Hunting Story « Result #12 on Oct 8, 2009, 8:53am »
There were three hunters. One was very smart, one was somewhat smart and one wasn't smart at all.
The very smart hunter went into the woods and returned with an elk. The other hunters, astounded, asked, "How did you get it?!!!" to which the first hunter replied, "Go into woods, see tracks, follow tracks, shoot elk."
So the somewhat smart hunter went tinto the woods and returned with a deer. The other hunters asked how he got it and he replied, "Go into woods, see tracks, follow tracks, shoot deer."
Then the third hunter went into the woods and returned battered and bruised. The first two asked how he got that way to which he replied, "Go into woods, see tracks, follow tracks, train no stop."

Re: What I worked on the last two weekends « Result #14 on Sept 21, 2009, 7:29pm »
I finished the quilt top yesterday. Worked most of the afternoon cutting the light green strips and the corner squares. Assembly was much easier than I thought it would be. I ended up putting the blocks in exactly the same order, completely by accident. Well...she wanted a copy, so she got one.
Here is a picture of it last night hot off the "presses":

Finished the rest of the machine work today. It's been quilted for several weeks. I used a cheater paper with the print on it for the pretty border work. Got all 4 of those done today and added the binding. All that's left now is to flip the binding to the back and hand sew down. Here are all the pictures:
